Adventure Writing

This week we have been thinking about adventure writing. Yesterday we thought about the elements needed for a good adventure story and today everyone wrote one of them out to go on a new display in the classroom...

Mrs Andrew has been reading from Enid Blyton's adventure story 'The Island of Adventure'. We are listening carefully to get lots of ideas and inspiration for our own writing.

Making and Reading Sundials

Earlier in the week Mrs Andrew showed Class 3 how to make sundials and today, as it was a sunny day, we used them to tell the time.

Here we are drawing in a line for the 10 o'clock shadow:

Here is the shadow at 11am:

Here is the shadow at 12 noon...

Hopefully you can see the different lines showing how the sun has moved around the sky. Perhaps you can spot where someone made a mistake!

We named them Mike and Kevin. They went back to their pond at lunchtime.

Tadpoles!

Great excitement today when Mrs Grottick brought in some tadpoles for the school pond...

...more to follow next week!

Maths Meerkat

Mrs Andrew introduced the class to Maths Meerkat. He loves maths and wants to go and visit the children at home to do lots of it! Eleanor is going to take him home first and will report back next week with some details of what they've done together in our Maths Meerkat Book. Don't forget to strap him in the car!

ps his birthday is April 8th!

Our Learning Goals for this term

This morning we thought about what we would like to improve about ourselves over the following term.
We illustrated our goals with summery pictures and here are some examples...

Kung Fu Punctuation

Today we looked at an excerpt from "The Hodgeheg" by Dick King Smith and worked in pairs to act out the sentences using Kung Fu punctuation.
